Game Preview: Solatorobo: Red the Hunter

"That's not a sword, it's a stun gun..."

Synopsis-The floating islands of the Shepherd Republic houses two different race, humanoid cats and dogs. A male dog, Red Savarin, boards an air ship to retrieve stolen files, but instead, Red finds a medallion. The ship is attacked by unknown beings, and forces Red to escape. During his escape, Red rescues a cat, Elh Melizee. As Red uncovers the mystery about the medallion, Red also discovers more of Elh’s hidden past.

Well, just from the story, I can already sense a couple of generic RPG plot elements. But putting the plot the game aside, Solatorobo: Red the Hunter plays out like a 3D platformer. When I first saw the trailer, the first thing that came into my mind was Tenga Toppa Gurren Lagun. Instead of using a drill, Red’s robot, DAHAK, throws enemies around. The player can chain combos by throwing enemies into the air and at others. Solatorobo: Red the Hunter is supposed to be the spiritual sequel to Tail Concerto, for the Playstaion. The graphics on from this game is amazing well done. I’ve been waiting for a good DS game, and I believe Solatorobo: Red the Hunter will keep me occupied for a while.

Game Preview: Saints Row: The Third

All I gotta say is wow. This trailer blew my mind. I've never played the other Saints Row games, but from what I've heard and seen, it plays kind of like Grand Theft Auto, except it has more style. And after watching the trailer, there's plenty of style indeed. The song in the trailer is Kanye West's Power. I'm also keeping my eye out for this one. It's coming out on 11.15.11 on PC, 360, and PS3.

Game Preview: Tomb Raider

This one is supposed to be a prequel to the Tomb Raider series. The CGI looks really nice, as expected of Square Enix. Purely judging from the trailer and things I've heard, this one is supposed to be more darker and grittier than the others in the franchise. I'm going to be keeping my eye on this one. It doesn't have a release date yet, but it's coming out on PC, 360, and PS3.

Game Preview: The Last Guardian

From the creators of Shadow Of The Colossus, their next game is The Last Guardian.

I remember watching this trailer back in 2009. The graphics are amazing and the music really sets the mood for the trailer. The creature looks really realistic. But what stands out the most is the bond between the boy and the creature. In one part of the trailer, it shows just the boy and the creature sleeping together peacefully. What scares me is the possible ending of the game. Games and movies that usually invovles strong bonds between a boy and an animal always ends up with the animal dying. I really hope that does not happend because it is too cliche.

Looking forward to this game, and so should you.

Game Preview: Professor Layton Vs Phoenix Wright

Meet Professor Layton, a gentleman that has the potential to solve any puzzles. Steps in Phoenix Wright, a lawyer that has won the "impossible" cases. Together, Capcom and Level 5 have joined these two extraordinary men to put their mind to the test. Set in a town where a girl is accused of being a witch, both Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton must solve the case/puzzel to reveal the truth.

As a Phoenix Wright fan, I am very hyped for this game. Unfortunately, Professor Layton Vs Phoenix Wright will be coming out for the Nintendo 3DS. Both the Phoenix Wright series and Professor Layton series have a large fanbase, which adds on to the very high expectation for this game. All I can say is this game will be epic.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine Preview

From a glance, it may look like a Gears of War clone, but it's got the charm of one of the most famous gaming franchises in history... Warhammer 40k. I'm hoping there's a cover system in addition to the similar gameplay experience as Gear of War. I had a blast playing Gears and so I hope I'll be having a blast playing this one too. There's no confirmed release date for this one yet, but I'll definitely be keeping my eye out.

Brink Preview

I absolutely cannot wait for this game. I've been hyped for this game for about a year and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Brink is an FPS with Mirror's Edge movement mechanic, or as the developers call it S.M.A.R.T. (aka Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain). It also promises to blur the single player and multiplayer components with extensive character customization, weapon customization, and just random stuff to do during a match. Brink is scheduled for a release in May and I'll be doing a review on it as soon as I play it.

Dead Island Preview

Dead Island... oh man... a first person zombie action game with RPG elements? Please count me in. The dramatic cinematic trailer was enough to get this game under my radar. But I honestly thought this game was trashed because there has been no news about it since 06 or 07 until now. I'm crossing my fingers for a 2011 release, but it's still not confirmed yet.

Here's the cinematic trailer:

Hunted: Demon's Forge Preview

Holy crap, I'm excited for this game. A two player co-op dungeon crawl experience? Count me in! The release date for this is June 1, 2011 for all PS3, 360, and PC. From the previews, it looks like there's gonna be a bit of hack-n-slash, and the archer elf chick seems to go into a third person shooter mode for her attacks.

Here's a gameplay footage:

When it comes out in June, I'll do a review for it.
